BCI Open Day a Big Success!

Date

Fun had by all at BCI Open Day!

On Thursday 16th October, the Business Confucius Institute opened its doors for a relaxed and welcoming Drop In & Discover event.

Throughout the day, around thirty students and staff from across the University of Leeds stopped by to explore everything the BCI has to offer. Visitors browsed our collection of Chinese language and culture resources, chatted with our friendly team, and learned more about opportunities to study Mandarin, travel to China, and connect with a global-minded community.

The event kicked off with a fun China-themed trivia battle royale, where individuals competed head-to-head until only one champion remained standing, a true test of cultural knowledge and quick thinking!

Guests were then treated to a beautiful guzheng performance, filling the room with the amazing sounds of traditional Chinese music. Attendees also had the chance to dress up in hanfu, traditional Chinese clothing, and pose for photos, adding a touch of flair to the event!

The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, as attendees from a wide range of backgrounds including local, international, and Chinese students discovered how the BCI can support their interests and studies. We were especially pleased to welcome participants from diverse departments across the university including Leeds University Business School, Linguistics, Media, Biology, and East Asian Studies Department.

And of course, no cultural event is complete without food! Guests enjoyed a selection of tasty Chinese snacks, adding a delicious and authentic touch to the afternoon.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, we loved meeting you and sharing our passion for Chinese culture. If you missed it, don’t worry, more events are on the way!
