The Business Confucius Institute at the University of Leeds (BCI) promotes the understanding of Chinese language and culture in the UK, with a business focus on helping companies to communicate with Chinese customers more effectively.
The BCI is part of a worldwide network of Confucius Institutes overseen by the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban). Each Confucius Institute is a partnership between a university in China and a university in another part of the world. Our institute, one of only five business-focussed Confucius Institutes in Europe, is a collaboration between the University of Leeds and the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing. Find out more about our partners.
Confucius Institutes in the UK specialising in business and commerce are rare, so we are extremely proud that Leeds University Business School hosts the Business Confucius Institute at the University of Leeds. Its purpose is to make connections with China through research, programmes and partnerships, which is supported by its world-renowned academic reputation. The ground breaking work of the Institute supports our overarching goal of being a truly global business school.
