BCI Partner School Shines at UK Dragon Boat Race 2025
The 11th UK Chinese Dragon Boat Festival made a vibrant splash at Salford’s Media City on Sunday, 25th May, with thousands gathering to enjoy a day full of culture, community, and celebration.
The festival included Dragon boat races featuring teams from across the country. Visitors enjoyed Chinese cultural performances, traditional food, and family-friendly activities throughout the day.
Among the standout highlights was a stunning performance by New Vision Education Chinese School, a close partner of the Business Confucius Institute. Their cultural showcase – featuring elegant dance, heartfelt choir singing, and traditional Chinese music – captivated the crowd and earned enthusiastic applause from both festival-goers and organisers.
The school's lineup included a moving choir rendition of “The Sea, My Homeland,” the graceful classical dance “Whispers in the Wind,” and a beautiful instrumental performance of “Love Blessed by the Moon.” Dressed in traditional costumes, the performers brought Chinese heritage to life with passion, poise, and artistry – quickly becoming one of the most talked-about parts of the day.
Organisers gave special recognition to New Vision Education Chinese School for making the journey to support the event, highlighting their commitment to cultural exchange. Audience members described the performances as “heart warming” and “inspiring,” praising the young performers for their talent and spirit.
This year’s Dragon Boat Festival, one of the UK’s largest multicultural events, welcomed over 10,000 attendees. Thanks to the support of the Leeds University Business Confucius Institute and partner organisations in China, New Vision Education Chinese School not only delivered a memorable performance but also helped strengthen cultural ties between the UK and China. The Business Confucius Institute supports a number of schools across Leeds with Mandarin Language Learning and celebrations of Chinese culture!
