Date

Our first volunteer reunion took place in China on 18 August 2017. 11 University of Leeds alumni, who had also been valued members of the Business Confucius Institute (BCI) volunteer team, gathered in Beijing with BCI Operations Manager Ellen Wang.

Ellen was proud to learn that this talented group of BCI volunteer alumni are already well on their way to career success in China. They are working at a variety of top companies and Universities, including Amazon, Baidu, Tencent, Xinhua news, and the People's Daily.

The students spoke fondly of their time at the University of Leeds and have great memories of volunteering with the BCI. This experience has helped them to gain the skills and confidence required in the world of work.

The event was an opportunity for the BCI to express our gratitude to these enthusiastic and hardworking young people, who have been excellent ambassadors for China through sharing their language and culture with others. We hope that their experience with the BCI has left them keen to pursue other volunteering opportunities where their time and talents can make a valuable contribution!
