Mooncakes and Mid Autumn Festival at the BCI!
🌕✨ Mid-Autumn Festival ✨🌕
On Thursday, 2nd October, we gathered in Maurice Keyworth SR (1.32) to celebrate one of the most beloved festivals in Chinese culture, the Mid-Autumn Festival. The lunchtime event brought 130 students and staff across two sessions for an hour of culture, fun, and delicious treats.
The session began with an engaging presentation exploring the origins, legends, and traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival. From the famous story of Chang’e and Hou Yi to the symbolism of the full moon and family reunion.
Participants then enjoyed a mooncake tasting, sampling this traditional delicacy while learning about its significance and regional variations. A lively Mandarin mini-lesson followed, where everyone learned festive phrases such as "Zhōng Qiū Jié Kuài Lè" Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
To make the celebration even more interactive, we hosted a quiz that tested participants’ knowledge of Chinese culture and festival traditions. Winners received Chinese-themed prizes, including notepads, bookmarks, and postcards. The excitement continued with a lucky lottery draw, where more attendees took home similar themed gifts.
The event concluded with a creative craft session, where everyone made beautiful Mid-Autumn Festival cards to share with friends or family. This thoughtful hands-on activity provided a meaningful way to express good wishes and celebrate the spirit of togetherness that defines the festival.
Overall, it was a fun and tasty celebration that brought people together to appreciate Chinese culture, eat some mooncakes, and learn about the traditions of mid autumn festival.
✨ Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the event such a success! ✨
