The BCI Wins Big at Global Video Competition

The Business Confucius Institute (BCI) at the University of Leeds is celebrating a major international success following the results of the 2025 CI Moments Global Short Video Collection Event.
Earlier this year, BCI hosted its own Short Video Competition, inviting students to creatively share their experiences with Chinese language and culture. The local contest saw many talented participants submit entries, with £500 in prizes awarded to five outstanding winners. The initiative was designed not only to showcase learners experiences with Chinese language and culture through creative storytelling, but also to align with the global competition run by the Confucius Institute Network called "2025 CI Moments Global Short Video Collection Event."

The global event attracted entries from around the world, offering an amazing 10,000 RMB (approx. £1,000) prize for the top winner . We're thrilled to announce that Nan Wu, one of our local winners, earned Third Place globally with their heart warming video “The Joy of Chinese Learning for Children in Leeds”. This recognition highlights the creativity and cultural insight nurtured within our institute.

In addition to individual success, the Business Confucius Institute itself was honoured with an “Excellent Organisation Award”, a prestigious accolade given to institutions that demonstrated exceptional support and engagement. Remarkably, BCI was the only recipient in Europe, underscoring its leadership in promoting Chinese language and culture across the continent.

This double win, reflects the dedication of our students and staff, and the power of storytelling to bridge cultures. We couldn’t be prouder!
