BCI Partner School Performs at UK Chinese Dragon Boat Festival

The Business Confucius Institute (BCI) at the University of Leeds was pleased to support long-standing partner Leeds New Vision Education Chinese School (New Vision) in attending this year's UK Chinese Dragon Boat Festival in Salford, Greater Manchester.
Established in 2012, the UK Chinese Dragon Boat Festival has grown into one of the UK's leading celebrations of Chinese culture, bringing together dragon boat racing, cultural performances, community organisations and thousands of visitors. The event promotes cultural exchange, friendship and understanding between the UK and China.

As part of the festival's cultural programme, New Vision showcased a range of traditional Chinese arts. The school's Qilin (Chinese Unicorn) Dance Team – the only Hakka-style Qilin team in West Yorkshire – delivered an energetic performance titled Double Auspicious Qilin Celebrate Dragon Boat Festival, entertaining the audience with its skilful choreography and vibrant drumming.

Visitors also enjoyed a Guzheng solo performance from Leeds University student Lijun Zhang, which highlighted the beauty and elegance of traditional Chinese music.

New Vision's participation helped bring Chinese culture to a wider audience while celebrating the rich traditions associated with the Dragon Boat Festival. BCI is proud to support community partners such as New Vision in promoting Chinese language and culture across the region.
