BCI Welcomes New Students to Leeds Business School
Business Confucius Institute Welcomes New Students to Leeds Business School
The Business Confucius Institute (BCI) joined colleagues from Leeds University Business School to welcome new students as they arrived in Leeds, introducing them to opportunities for Chinese language learning, cultural engagement and global experiences throughout their university journey.
A Warm Welcome for New Students
The Business Confucius Institute was delighted to take part in the student registration event held in the Maurice Keyworth foyer, alongside colleagues from across Leeds University Business School.
The event, organised by Mark Hackney, Student Communications Officer at Leeds University Business School, brought together colleagues from across the School to provide a warm welcome to incoming students and help them discover the opportunities available throughout their time at the University of Leeds.
Throughout the day, members of the BCI team met students from a wide range of backgrounds, sharing information about Mandarin language courses, cultural activities, guest lectures and events that promote understanding of China and Chinese culture.
Showcasing Opportunities Beyond the Classroom
For many students, the event was their first introduction to the Business Confucius Institute and the diverse programme of activities it offers throughout the year.
Visitors to the BCI stand learned about opportunities to study Mandarin, participate in cultural workshops and celebrations, attend expert guest lectures, and engage with events that explore China's role in the global business environment. Students were also encouraged to discover how involvement with the Institute can help develop intercultural awareness, global perspectives and valuable international skills alongside their academic studies.
Building Connections from Day One
The registration event provided an excellent opportunity for students to ask questions, learn about campus life and connect with colleagues who will support them during their time at Leeds.
By engaging with students from the moment they arrive, the BCI hopes to help them feel part of the wider University community and inspire them to take advantage of the many cultural and international opportunities available to them during their studies.
The event also highlighted the importance of collaboration across Leeds University Business School, with colleagues working together to ensure new students received a friendly and informative welcome to the University.
Looking Ahead
As the academic year begins, the Business Confucius Institute looks forward to welcoming students to its upcoming programme of activities, including Mandarin language courses, cultural events, guest lectures and community engagement opportunities.
These events provide valuable opportunities for students to broaden their horizons, develop global outlooks and build meaningful connections across cultures.
Supporting Global Engagement at Leeds
Welcoming students at the start of their university experience reflects the Business Confucius Institute's commitment to promoting Chinese language learning, cultural exchange and international engagement. Through events such as this, the Institute continues to support students in developing the knowledge, skills and perspectives needed to thrive in an increasingly connected world.
