Local Chinese school perform at Manchester Dragon Boat Festival celebrations
On June 9 2024, the day before the Dragon Boat Festival in the lunar calendar, nearly twenty teachers and students from New Vision Education Chinese School visited Salford Quays in Manchester to participate in the UK Chinese Dragon Boat Festival celebration hosted by the Xinhua Chinese Association.
Since being invited to the event, the teachers and students of New Vision Education Chinese School, including volunteers from the Business Confucius Institute at the University of Leeds (BCI), had been working hard to polish their wide range of Chinese cultural performances.
On the day they attracted large crowds to enjoy the Chinese dance "Entering the Painted Jiangnan," choral songs "Jasmine Flower" and "The Same Song”, a Chinese instrumental ensemble, a solo guzheng performance, a medley of folk music, along with live painting and a solo singing performance from choir leader Fiona Chen.
The scene was filled with the sounds of singing, music, and cheers from the riverbank, igniting Manchester's weekend atmosphere. The audience's applause was enthusiastic, and many raised their phones to capture the beauty of Chinese costume and the unique charm of the choral and instrumental performances.
Members of New Vision Education Chinese School feel proud to contribute to the promotion of Chinese culture during the Dragon Boat Festival.
