Hometown in China

I am from the city of Jinzhong, in the province of Shanxi. People from Shanxi are normally famous for not wanting to leave their hometown, but I am super excited to come to the UK (*even if it is far away)

Favourite food

I absolutely love Hotpot! Especially the delicious sesame paste!

Hobbies

I also like to play a game called Werewolf , where you have to guess who is the killer. Its a fun party game that involves closing your eyes and using logic to guess who the killer is...

Favourite thing about teaching Chinese

I love seeing the progress of my students, and as they complete their classes the fall in love with Chinese language learning even more!

Top tip for beginner learners of Chinese

You need to focus on chatting as much as possible! Always try to speak Chinese, and find some Chinese friends.

Top tip for more advanced learners of Chinese

You should start to read Chinese novels and watch Chinese tv shows!

Favourite Chinese saying or chengyu

三人行，必有我師 -  sānrénxíng, bì yǒu wǒ shī - You can always learn something new from someone (When you walk as three people, one will always be your teacher)

I used this idiom for when I teach, it always reminds me that I can learn from my students (as well as the other way round)

A Chinese TV show I recommend to students

知否知否 - This is a period drama set in the song dynasty, about a girl who is innocent to begin with, but having faced tribulations grows throughout the tv show. I really enjoyed it, and thoroughly recommend it!
