In this talk we welcome our friend from Quirky Moth Theatre in Beijing to introduce how the moon and moon goddess are used on theatre stages.

Quirky Moth Theatre is an emerging theatre company in Beijing China. Since their establishment in 2016, they focused on representing the traditional and contemporary cultures on Chinese theatre stage. It is grateful for us to celebrate the Mid-autumn festival together with them.

Joey Liang as a practitioner from Quirky Moth Theatre will talk about the representations of Moon and Moon Goddess in both historical and contemporary ways.

First, Joey will introduce the culture and history moon in ancient China.

Second, Joey will take examples to analyse the representation of moon in Chinese traditional Theatre and Modern Drama.

Third, Joey will conclude her talk with a recent production, Hun Gui Chu done by Quirky Moth Theatre that creatively use cultural elements of Mid-Autumn Festival.

Quirky Moth Theatre will join us online on Saturday, 10 September, 2022. The link to Zoom meeting will be emailed to registered attendees in due course.
